Sunday School PreK-8th grade

At Howland UMC, we use a rotation style curriculum for our children’s Sunday school education. We utilize hands-on, engaging lessons to reach diverse learners. Foundational stories of the Bible are taught in our 5 year lesson rotation.

There are classes for

  • Pre-Kindergarten,
  • Grades Kindergarten-Grade 1
  • Grades 2-3,
  • Grades 4-6  and
  • Grades 7-8.

Each week, children visit one of four stations: Rainbow Room (crafts), Harmony Harbor (music), Whale of a Tale (drama) and Fishes and Loaves (cooking) – in which they experience the Bible story in exciting ways.

All children are in the Sanctuary for opening greetings and songs, then they are called forward for a children’s message by the pastor. Afterwards, children are dismissed to fellowship hall around 10:15 for a brief joint worship  time with Miss Janel.   Classes are then held from 10:30-11:30.   This will allow parents about 30 minutes for coffee/fellowship before picking up children at 11:30-11:45am.

This program is for PreK through 4th grade.  Music, Bible Stories, Games, Crafts & Mission are just some of the activities!   Adults carry out the station lessons and help as Circle leaders. We always need extra hands somewhere – registration table, subs for a class or circle, kitchen help, clean up, etc. There’s a place for you if you are available any Wednesday from 6pm-7pm.   Come early for dinner at 5:30pm!   Registration is required & registration is open all Fall/Winter.
